It has been awhile since I wrote an article on the Fodder-Flaker-Feeder. But this piece of equipment has been on our wish list ever since. Most ranchers can relate to the “wish list.” Just about the time you think you have the funds set aside, something else comes up that takes priority like a new fence the bulls busted or a new watering system for a looming drought year.
Nevertheless, the Fodder-Flaker-Feeder is still on our radar.
We used to feed small bales of hay that we could easily wrangle by hand. But now that we are feeding the large (one-ton) three-string bales, sometimes getting that flake to let loose its grip on the bale is a chore. And then just when you get the flakes coming off in an orderly fashion, half the bale will flop over and fall off the hay wagon. Then you are tasked with figuring out a way to spread it around so all of the cattle don’t have to converge on one big hunk of hay. With our operation, we usually grab the pitchforks and manually move the hay around.
The Flaker-Fodder-Feeder would come in pretty handy and our backs would appreciate not having to struggle with the heavy flakes of hay. The Fodder-Flaker-Feeder would also be a great tool for small operations as one person could easily feed without additional help.
The Fodder-Flaker-Feeder slices the big bales of hay like a giant loaf of bread. Here’s a video to see it in action:

And here’s a link to the manufacturer/seller for more information: Robbins Farm Equipment
Wonderful pages for us to see. Thanks, Pete
